Begun in the spring of 2007, the Green and Grace-filled Ministry was founded by a group who believes that as Christians we are called by God to be care-takers of the earth He has given to us.
Genesis 2:15 says: "The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to till and keep it."
Our mission statement: To create awareness within our congregation of our jobs as “Creation Caretakers,” and to offer education and opportunities for service in caring for God’s earth.
Many of us often think of "green" or environmental issues as being politically charged. Perhaps we should step back and try to see things from God's point of view, as in Psalm 24:1: "The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it."
Doing our best to care for God's earth and respect it is really about stewardship, not about any political affiliation.
We invite you to join us in tending and caring for the gift of God’s beautiful earth and in keeping it green. We can use help with the following projects as well as future efforts!
- Children’s Earth Day Event (April)
- Tree-Planting for the City of Piqua (various times as announced)
- Heritage Festival Recycling (Labor Day weekend)
- Recycling efforts at church (on-going)
- Educational/Clerical duties such as: preparing Power Point Slides for Sunday morning services, Newsletter “Info Bites,” Posters, and Sunday bulletin info.
